WWII US Army M1936 Musette Bag Reproduction
Used by American paratroopers and Armored Infantryman in World War II, this improved carrying system was cliped to the M1936 Combat Suspender. It could be unclipped easily allowing the soldier to drop excess gear while still retaining his combat suspenders to support the weight of his ammunition belt, canteen, entrenching tool, etc..
The D rings at the bottom rear corners of the M1936 Musette Bag are use to secured the bottom of the bag against the soldier’s back with clips on the ends of the outer straps of the M1936 Combat Suspenders. The detached M1936 Musette Bag straps could be attached to a standard carrying strap to use as a side bag for every conceivable purpose.
This reproduction is good, but not perfect, and is priced as such. It would be ideal for theatrical, or exhibit display use, or just for kids to enjoy playing WWII soldier with. I wouldn’t guarantee that it would hold up to heavy field use or years of reenacting abuse. It seems to me the thread in the stitching and the fabric weight is just slightly lighter weight than the originals.
