G.I. FILMS FIGHTING MEN SERIES
REPRODUCTION WORLD WAR II TRAINING DVD FILMS
Each DVD is filled with nearly two hours of training films mined from the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Most have never before been offered for sale. The film quality of the material the archives allows to be copied varied. Understand that these are, of necessity, third generation copies (i.e. copy of the copy the archives copied from the original). The greatest flaw that some individual black and white films have is low contrast. This can be partially remedied by turning up the contrast on you television set. The subject matter focused on in this series was basic training and indoctrination of the WWII citizen soldier (Fighting Man Series) and introductory and advanced combat training, with a concentration on tactical training (Combat Skills Series). Infantry and Armor branches are covered as well as specific ordnance subjects directly related to combat. This is how our army was trained, and retrained, to fight as the lessons of earlier combat were absorbed. Very useful for living history groups and a painless way for the novice to learn the psychology and the science of war for American soldiers as it evolved from 1940 to 1945.
