MEDIEVAL REPLICA BLACKENED BUTTED STEEL CHAINMAIL SHIRT ARMOR
Reminiscent of the Black Knight, this blackened steel chainmail is made from butted rings suitable for cosplay, mock weapon combat and theatrical use. Though the wire used in these suits appears to be of good hard temper, because the links aren't riveted closed, I would strongly advise against using this armor for protection against real weapons. If you are a performer working with live steel blades, this is not the armor for you!
Metal Finish: Rather than raw steel (which readily rusts) or zinc plated steel (which gets white as the sacrificial zinc corrodes) the wire used in this mail appears to have a black nitride type protective coating, giving it the look of tarnished mail, but providing better corrosion resistance that plain steel or zinc with less maintenance
Sizing: Chainmail sort of shrinks/expands to fit to varying degrees based on the diameter of the round links. I this case they are about 0.50" rings of what looks like 14 gauge steel wire (0.062" diameter.)
