Korean & Vietnam War Era 155mm M1 & M1A1 Howitzer Powder Can
AUTHENTIC PERIOD ITEM
These metal cans were used to transport the powder charges
from the ordnance factory in the US to the artillerymen on the
battlefield. They contained the charges used to propel the projectiles
fired by the second heaviest field artillery used by the US Army in Korean
& Vietnam War. They had to be weather tight to protect the powder
so they seal with a spider like screw down lid. The handle of the lid is
actually solid brass. The can is clearly stenciled and dated both on the
side and on the inner edge by the lid.
The majority of these were naturally scrapped decades ago so
it remains a very rare ordnance item today. These would look great on our
military vehicle during parades or in your office as an umbrella stand or a
storage container.
