Civil War Style Leather 1860 Army/1873 Single Action Army Holster Reproduction
This well made holster is styled like a standard issue U.S. Army right side holster, but designed for the butt to be worn rearward, instead of forward, facing. Otherwise the materials, cut, pattern and copper reinforcing riveting is authentically done. In effect, it is the mirror image of the standard government issue holster. I guess you might also consider it a “left-hand” model of the regulation holster. Some private purchase, butt rearward, holsters like this with Civil War provenance exist, but they are not the norm. That being said, this is and excellent quality holster that also fits the Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army and probably many other models. It could easily be the basis for customizing into a unique and authentic “Old West” holster.
